FAQ
Where does the information about the ingredients come from?
All the information about the ingredients is based on scientific studies. We use the database of the National Center of Biotechnology Information (NCBI) for our research. If possible, we focus on independent studies (from independent organizations) and clinical trials (topical use of skincare ingredients on human skin). Our goal is to provide you with a skincare ingredient checker backed by as many scientific studies as possible.
I don't see any information on some ingredients. Why?
This isn't unusual and means that information on the ingredient isn't available. About 60,000 ingredients are currently used in cosmetic products, and new ones are being added. However, as our database is constantly growing, the information may change soon (new studies). Therefore, check the skincare ingredients of your favorite products regularly!
I found a mistake! What can I do?
About 60,000 ingredients are currently used in cosmetic products. Our database contains over 3,500 products. Mistakes can happen. Please get in touch with us so we can take care of it :)
How can I get the most out of your skin care & cosmetic ingredient checker?
It's essential to know your skin type. Knowing your skin is the basis for an effective and satisfying skincare routine. Only if you know your skin, you can find effective products for your unique skin. Take our skin quiz if you don't know your skin type :) It is also crucial to understand that the efficiency of a product is not only affected by the single ingredients but also by the product formulation (= how the product is 'cooked'). Therefore, also pay attention to product reviews - this is the only way to find out more about the formulation.
